Distant Ridge Project

The Distant Ridge project covers and area of over 124 square kms immediately to the north of Northwest’s Blue Spec Shear Project.

Numerous significant gold deposits are located around Nullagine, however, the area covered by the Distant Ridge Project has received almost no modern exploration for gold. Significant alluvial deposits are known in the area however their primary sources have not been identified. Northwest believes this area is promising for future gold discoveries.

Apart from gold, the project area covers a significant part of the historic Nullagine alluvial diamond field. Historic gold mining activities resulted in the discovery of many alluvial diamonds around Nullagine. Despite much prospecting, primarily by Stockdale Prospecting in the 1960’s, the primary source of the diamonds has not been located.

A large number of probable and possible kimberlitic indicators have been found within the project area in association with three northwest trending dolerite dykes, suggesting the presence of kimberlitic lithologies within the project area. Kimberlite is the predominant host of diamond deposits.

The first diamond discoveries in Western Australia were made in the Pilbara craton which is very similar in age, structure and stratigraphy to the Kaapvaal craton in southern Africa, a region particularly rich in primary diamond deposits.

The northern part of the project area also lies less than 2kms southeast of Quartz Circle (Greynic Metals) where recent drilling has returned very positive zinc intersections. Copper is also known to be present in the project area.

Northwest will evaluate all high-value mineral potential within project area, while maintaining a primary focus on the discovery of significant gold systems.
